Ann Megowan
October 6, 1959 - July 6, 2019
Ann Erina (Johnson) Megowan (59) of Corvallis OR died peacefully at home on July 6, 2019. Born on October 6, 1959 to Lee Elmer Johnson and Margaret (O’Neill) Johnson, Ann was the 2nd of five children. Armed with a ferociously independent mind, good spider karma, and an abiding love for desert reptiles, she attended St. Bonaventure HS in Ventura, Loyola Marymount University, and Oregon State University (B.S. Zoology). She is survived by her spouse Patrick J. J. Megowan (married 1980); her three children Erina Therese, Meghan Rose, and Thomas Dana; granddaughter Lucia Noelle Hendrix (by Meghan and Gerald Lee Hendrix) and forthcoming grandson Lee Hendrix; and Ann’s older brother Erik Johnson. Allergic to the idea of an obituary for herself, let it then remain nominally unstated that—in addition to raising her family (including occasionally her husband)—she sang joyfully in choirs and theater (e.g. evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer Reno Sweeney in Corvallis Community Theater’s Anything Goes, St. Mary’s 9AM choir, and Corvallis Repertory Singers), unhesitatingly added a 7lb fossil rock to her 50lb load while backpacking an unexplored route in the Canadian arctic, and spoke fluent Siamese cat and German shepherd along with various equine dialects. A funeral Mass will be held at 11am on August 1 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Corvallis, with bright colors and Hawaiian shirts vigorously (not to say imperiously) encouraged. In lieu of flowers/fruit baskets/gifts, Ann would be delighted if you shared that love with someone who is ill, down-hearted, or otherwise in need.
