Gary Paul Beck, September 25, 1936-October 29, 2021 Gary Paul Beck, 85 passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021 at his home in Corvallis, Oregon. Gary was born in Oregon City, Oregon on September 25, 1936 to Paul and Dorothy Beck of Estacada, Oregon. He was the oldest of six children. Gary left home and joined the US Navy after graduation from Milwaukie High School in 1954. After attending training in San Diego, California, Norman, Oklahoma and Memphis, Tennessee he was stationed at Naval Air Station Moffett Field, Mountain View, California. There he met the love of his life Joan Silva of Montague, California and married September 27, 1955. Gary left the US Navy and joined the US Air Force in 1958. Gary and Joan had a very good life together, were stationed in Arizona, England, California, Thailand, Germany, and Italy. Returning to California he became a member of the U.S. Air Force Inspector General Staff at Norton Air Force Base. During his time in the service Gary earned his AA degree. After retirement he moved to Corvallis and completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Oregon State University. After graduation he worked as a faculty member in the College of Business at OSU until his retirement in 1992. Gary enjoyed many volunteer activities including: Dial-a-Bus driver; Corvallis Planning Commission Vice Chairman; Land Development Board Chairman; Downtown Corvallis Association Consumer Advisory Committee Chairman; District 4 Council of Government Senior & Disabled Advisory Committee Chairman; Governor’s Commission on Senior & Disabled Services Vice Chairman; Corvallis Area Chamber of Commerce; City of Corvallis Riverfront Enhancement Steering Committee; Corvallis-Benton County Economic Development Partnership Business Advisory Council Linn Benton Community College; Employment and Training Advisory Council, Community Services Consortium and Private Industry Council of The Oregon Consortium. Proceeded by his sisters Sharon Morgan, Janice Craig and Bess West. Gary is survived by his wife Joan Beck; his brother, Daniel of Portland, OR; sister, Paula Beck of Molalla, OR; Daughters, Cindy Beck & son-in-law, Jeff Schlapfer of Corvallis, OR; Lynn Lanham and son-in-law Ray Lanham of Salem, OR; sons, Bruce Beck of Bend, OR and Brice Beck of Portland, OR; Grandchildren Joshua Chartier and wife Amy Gao of Baltimore, MD; Levi Schlaper of Long Beach, CA; Brieanne Lanham of Eugene, OR; Cory and Jamie Lanham of Oregon City, OR; Brady Beck if Bend, Michelle and Jeff Wyant of Salem, OR; Hailey, Caleb Lanham of Salem and 7 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Corvallis, OR on December 10th at 11am with Father Lucas Laborde presiding. Private interment at Twin Oaks Memorial Park (date to be determined). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gary Beck can be made to the Grace Center of Corvallis, OR. GraceCenter-Corvallis.org.
