Trudy Jacob of Corvallis died Monday, July 26. She was born on the family farm in Fairfield, Wash., to Johannes A. and Emma Wittorf. She graduated from Jenkins High School in Chewelah, Wash. Trudy married her childhood sweetheart, PhiIip Jacob, in Spokane, Wash., after his return from World War II and discharge from the Amy. She graduated from Sacred Heart’s School of Nursing Cadet Program in Spokane and received her Registered Nurse license. The couple settled in Corvallis where Phil began a nearly 40-year career with Oregon State University’s plumbing department. Trudy worked at The Paris clothing shop, Stopp’s Tots-to-Teens, Benton County 4-H, and The Corvallis Clinic, as well as private duty nursing while her children were young. She was past-president of the Corvallis Lady Elks. She attended Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of the church choir. After 21 years in nursing at Student Health Services at Oregon State University, she retired in December 1987. For many years Trudy and Phil enjoyed Company M Army reunions, RVing with the Elks, taking group tours abroad and traveling to Alaska and Hawaii, and spending time with their grandchildren. In addition to her parents, including her father who lived to 104, Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, and an infant brother. She is survived by her sister, twin sons and a daughter, and their children. A cryptside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Oaklawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Luther House, Benton Hospice, or a charity of choice.
