Herbert Berman March 24, 1927 -Aug. 17, 2014 Herbert Berman was born in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest child of Sam and Fannie Berman. He is survived by his wife, Regina Berman; children, Stephen Berman, Leigh Berman, Glenn Berman, Corrie Berman and Bonnie Berman, and their spouses and children; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters Anita Berman and Shirley Aigen, and their spouses and children. Herbert was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a master electrician in New York, and his first love was art. He started in abstract painting and fell in love with the Old Masters. He was an artist in residence at the Salmangundi Club in New York. In 1996, he moved to Corvallis. Here he enjoyed his art, Oregon and his retirement. His work has appeared at Pegasus Gallery, and he was the artist in residence at the former Forrest-Temple Galleries. His work can be seen at some restaurants in town, and also at Pegasus Gallery and Broderick Gallery in Longview, Washington. His life was art, and he made the world a more beautiful place in which to live. To honor his memory, art supplies or financial support can be donated to the schools in Linn and Benton counties to keep the love of art going, and his memory alive. Special thanks to the Transitions Program at Benton Hospice Service, Visiting Angels and Samaritan Home Health Services.
