Iva Faye Hilliard Burton
February 6, 1931 - July 28, 2018
Faye, born to Iva Hilliard and Walter Hilliard, Jr., in Salem, Ohio, grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1948. Faye married George Arthur Burton of Leetonia, Ohio, on June 26, 1949, and they were a happy couple for 63 years. Faye enjoyed people and was a good and loyal friend. She loved adventure, nature, music, singing, sailing, riding her motorcycle, and family and friends. In 1953, Faye and Art moved to Arizona, where she worked as home-maker and in catalog retail and Art worked at Motorola. After retiring to Payson, Arizona in 1988, they sailed on many lakes and the Gulf of California, traversed the deserts on their motorcycles, and drove our country’s highways to visit loved ones. Art died August 5, 2012. In 2015, Faye moved to Oregon to be near her daughters. Survivors include her children, Millicent Burton-Funk of Corvallis, Oregon, George Burton of Phoenix, Arizona, and Leah Priest of Portland, Oregon; granddaughters, Olivia and Celia Funk, both of Corvallis, and Gianna Evangelista of Phoenix; and brothers Raymond Hilliard of Salem, Ohio, and Donald Hilliard of Tacoma, Washington.
