James Russell Leslie

James R. Leslie, 83 Former Roseburg, Oregon resident James R. Leslie, 83, died Apr. 5, 2022, at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in Corvallis, Oregon. As per his wishes, no service will be held. As a military veteran, he will be memorialized by the placement of his remains at the Roseburg VA Cemetery. Dr. Leslie was born on April 8, 1938, in Missouri. He grew up in Portageville and attended both undergraduate and medical school in Missouri. Dr. Leslie was a U.S. Army veteran, a generous spirit, and a selfless servant. He served on active duty in the Vietnam War and during the Gulf War at Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Germany. He later retired as lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. After over a decade of active duty in the Army, Dr. Leslie settled in Roseburg, Oregon where he practiced internal medicine for several years. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Joan Jeppesen; his son and family, James Leslie, Kimberly Leslie, and their daughter, Rachel; and his son Brian Leslie.
