Joan M McComb July 22, 1933- June 4, 2014 Joan M. McComb, 80, a life-long resident of Suffield, CT, died Wednesday, (June 4, 2014) at Evergreen Hospice House, in Albany, OR. Joan worked as a teller for the First National Bank of Suffield for 20 years, and then as the Tax Collector for the Town of Suffield for 20 years, retiring in 1999. In retirement, she enjoyed travel, and was active in her church and with the East Granby Lions club with her close friend, Gordon Granger. Born July 22, 1933 in West Suffield, CT, she was the daughter of the late Alan K. Root and Loleta E. Gregg. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda McComb and her partner Dianna Fisher of Philomath, OR; a brother Robert Root and his wife Sharon, of Guildhall, Vermont; two grandsons, Kevin McComb and Michael McComb; five nephews and eight nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and her former husband, Curtis E. McComb. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
