August 4, 1962 - November 2, 2020
LaurieAnn Marks, 58 of Lebanon, Oregon passed into her new life in heaven with Jesus on November 2, 2020. She died from cancer at home in the presence of her family. She was a loving mother of five grown children, committed to her husband through their lives together, a faithful daughter, and a beautiful sister. Laurie had a deep faith which showed itself in every part of her life in joyful expressions of kindness to others, a caring spirit, excellence in everything she did, and a generous attitude. Laurie was born August 4, 1962 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was one of five children born to Ed and Marlene Nelson. Laurie loved her family and was deeply loved throughout her lifetime. She was a graduate of Centennial high school in Gresham, Oregon. Laurie married Gary Marks in 1983 in the Portland area. Laurie loved music and was active in both musical theater and choir activities through most of her life. In high school she played the lead female role of “Laurie” in the musical Oklahoma, and was involved in several other musical productions during those years. She had a sweet sounding soprano voice and was often asked to be a soloist in the community choirs she participated in. Laurie was a gifted and creative teacher, homeschooling her children through much of their education. The family lived together over the years in Heppner, Oregon; North Bend, Oregon; Whitefish, Montana; Ketchum, Idaho; and Lebanon, Oregon. They moved in connection with Gary’s professional career in city management. Laurie loved word games, cats, roller coasters, the warmth of the sun, and the beach. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed with ease. She poured herself completely into each activity, and was methodical and thorough in most everything she did. She is survived by her husband, Gary Marks and children Benson Marks and Noelle Marks of Lebanon; son Adam Marks and his wife Janelle of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; son Anton Marks active Marine stationed in Hawaii; and daughter Anastasia Marks currently of Molalla, Oregon. Laurie is also survived by her mother, Marlene Nelson of Canby, Oregon; her brother Stephen and wife Nancy Nelson also of Canby; her sister Lynette Isaak and husband Steve of Colton; her brother Jeff and wife Jennifer Nelson of Beaver Creek; and her sister Leanne Jones of Nashville, Tennessee. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. May God richly bless you for your compassion!
