    Lois Eads

    May 4, 1919 - November 2, 2009

Lois Ellen Eads passed away Nov. 2 in Corvallis. She was 90 years young. Lois was born May 4, 1919, in Auburn, Neb., the third of four children born to Lida and Willis Taylor. She married Ernest “Ernie” Eads on April 18, 1937, in Nebraska City, Neb. They moved to Oregon the very next day. In 1953, after a few moves, they settled in The Dalles with their four children: June Elaine, Ernest Duane, Janice Ellen and Peggy Lee. Lois worked at a local department store in The Dalles for 25 years. After retiring in 1981, Lois and her husband moved to her daughter and son-in-law’s farm in Philomath. Lois lived the last 15 years in Corvallis with her daughter Janice. She was a homemaker and wonderful mother to her children. Lois loved her family and held them close, and was dearly loved in return. She enjoyed gardening, farming and playing Keno twice a month with friends. She was a member of the Moose and Eagles lodges. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, on July 20, 1991; brother, Elwood Taylor; and two sons-in-law, Floyd Burton and Alan Rowland. Survivors include daughters Elaine and her husband, Dale Ritter, of Vancouver, Wash., and Janice Burton and Peggy Rowland, both of Corvallis; son Duane Eads and his wife, Jean, of Troy, Idaho; brothers Wayne Taylor and wife Joyce of Dallas, and Harlan Taylor of Portland; sisters-in-law Maxine Seimers of Bellevue, Neb., and Francis Eads of Bella Vista, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at 1 p.m. at the Meadow Park Mobile Estates Commons Building, 277 N.E. Conifer Blvd. in Corvallis. Contributions in Lois’ honor may be made to the National Cancer Society in care of DeMoss-Durdan, 815 N.W. Buchanan Ave., Corvallis, OR 97330.
