Madge Morris

Aug. 31, 1922 — Jan. 8, 2013 Madge D. Morris of Corvallis, born Aug. 31, 1922, in Ringgold County, Iowa, to Howard and Sadie Barnhouse, died Jan. 8, 2013, at age 90. Madge married Jay Morris in 1941 in Vancouver, Wash. They were married for 70 years prior to his passing in 2011. Madge and Jay owned Jay’s Electric in Corvallis. Madge also worked for 10 years at Dairy Queen for her brother-in-law, Carroll Shields, and for 20 years at the Oregon State University Bookstore. She also was a member of First Christian Church. Madge was an avid bowler for more than 50 years, and only recently quit bowling at the age of 88. She was inducted into the Oregon State Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame in 1998. Madge was a big sports fan — especially of the Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Braves, OSU Beavers and Oregon Ducks. Madge is survived by her three children, Linda Hebert (Roy) of Sherwood, Janet Bier (Jim) of Corvallis and Curtis Morris (Mary Lou) of Libby, Mont.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Pauline Shields. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; two sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren. There will be a private family interment, and a life celebration will be scheduled for a later date.
