Pamela K. Buthmann
May 18, 1948 - September 27, 2015
Pamela Kay Buthmann May 18, 1948 — September 27, 2015 Pam was born and raised in Stockton, California, daughter of Jack and Betty Hutchison. She married Jerry Buthmann in 1973 and worked to support the family while he finished college. They moved to Corvallis with young daughters Jennifer and Sarah, in 1985, when Jerry landed a job in Albany. From an early age Pam loved animals and always had pets, including a turtle and a rat when she was a young girl, then later adopting dogs and finally, upon settling down in Corvallis with her family, opening her home to a collection of cats. As much as she loved her cats, her family always came first. Pam’s parents soon followed the Buthmanns to Corvallis and later in their life, Pam assumed more responsibility for their care. Once her children grew up, Pam volunteered at Heartland Humane Society and worked at a Corvallis pre-school. As time permitted, Pam and Jerry loved to vacation on the Oregon coast and the southern states. In more recent years Pam became a doting grandmother to Sarah’s children. Pam is survived by her husband, Jerry Buthmann of Corvallis; her children and their spouses, Jennifer and Eric Beachy of Salem and Sarah and Chris Rowley of Albany; her grandchildren Noah, Naomi, and Nikolas Rowley, step grandchild Chayse Beachy; and her brother David Hutchison of Roseburg. There will be a Celebration of Life service from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 18th, at the Philomath Scout Lodge, 660 Clemens Mill Road. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Heartland Human Society, 398 SW Twin Oaks Circle, Corvallis, OR, 97333.
