    Verna Anglemier

    June 1, 1931 - December 25, 2010

Verna Jane (Crowe) Anglemier, 79, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, at Regent Court in Corvallis, surrounded by loved ones. Verna was born on June 1, 1931, daughter of Van and Lona Crowe, in Shaw, Miss. The family moved to Dos Palos, Calif., when Verna was 12 years old. Verna was the older child, having a younger brother, Don. Verna was preceded in death by her parents and brother. Verna met Allen Anglemier in 1951, when they were students at Fresno State College. Verna and Al married the following year, on June 14, 1952. After graduation, Verna and Al moved to Corvallis, where Al attended Oregon State College, completing graduate school and eventually joining the faculty of the Department of Food Technology at Oregon State University. Verna worked as a secretary in several different departments of OSU. She then devoted her life to raising her children and volunteering at the OSU Folk Club Thrift Shop. Verna was a loving and proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her time with family and friends. She was especially skilled at crossword puzzles, crocheting afghans and bargain shopping for her family of seven. Road trips to the Oregon Coast, Pendleton and California were also a favorite pastime. In Verna’s youth, she participated in athletics, with basketball being her favorite sport. In high school, she was president of the Girls’ Athletic Association, and voted most likely to succeed. Verna had an unwavering set of morals and values that stayed strong, consistent and true through the entirety of her life. Verna will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Allen; daughters Karen (Wayne) Miller of Pendleton, and Kathy Master of Walnut Creek, Calif.; sons Jim (Lori) of Salem, Rob (Cathy) of Tigard, and John (Darcy) of Corvallis; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis.
